Sammo Hung spends on daughter-in-law

How lucky it is to be Sammo Hung's daughter-in-law!

According to TVB News World, the martial arts actor-choreographer recently showered his daughter-in-law Janet Chow with gifts worth over HKD 1 million for giving birth to his first grandson.

On 14 May, Sammo hosted his grandson's 100th day celebration with a 15-table banquet, with all expenses paid for by the actor himself.
The "Ip Man 2" actor also awarded Janet with a new car of her choice, to which the Hong Kong actress humbly picked the least expensive Audi Q5, worth HKD 600,000 (app. USD 77,300).

When asked about the car, Janet rationalised her choice that the new car is spacious, stable, value-for-money and allows her to drive her son TJ around safely.

Sammo was also looking cheerful throughout the 100th day banquet. When asked about his recent lavish gift to Janet, he enthused, "I have to reward Janet because she is such a respectful daughter-in-law. I offered to buy her a car because I thought that it will be more convenient for her to bring TJ out if she has a car."

Meanwhile, the doting grandfather also gave grandson TJ a wide variety of gold jewellery that symbolised good luck and safety.

Sheren Tang slams "Beauty At War" writer

Following Sheren Tang's complaints regarding poor practices on the set of "Beauty At War", especially the lack of well-timed completed script, scriptwriter Chow Yuk Ming recently admitted his flaws and attributed the script issue to his "bad habit".

According to Jayne Stars, at an interview with the press, Chow stated, "Writers usually have this habit. Journalists, novelists, TV scriptwriters all have this bad habit, but mine is particularly bad. I couldn't change [the habit] before I turned 30, so I will probably carry it to my grave."

Admitting that he knows the habit is very frustrating for the cast and crew, however, he felt that the situation is like a sinking ship and it was easier to blame him when a drama was unsuccessful, stating, "I haven't changed in all of these years. In the past two years however I have done this less frequently. Sometimes I feel pessimistic and think, the ship is about to sink, some people would rather play mouse and be the first to escape."

However, the scriptwriter was still apologetic about his behaviour, and expressed that he had once regretted writing this sequel.

Meanwhile, upon hearing about Chow's sinking ship analogy, Sheren slammed the scriptwriter on Weibo, and stated, "I'm nothing and I have nothing to lose, so I'm not worried if the ship sinks. You're wrong. Human nature is not as bad as you think. We must take responsibility once we board the ship."

"I was ill in the middle of filming, but I persevered to avoid damaging morale. If you want to behave immaturely and won't care about how others should prepare, then you must also be responsible for the consequences. We all want to do a good job, not just you! Raymond Lam and Rain Li to reunite

Rumour has it that former lovers, Raymond Lam and Rain Li, may be reunited for a new drama.

Asianpopnews reported that TVB has planned to replicate the success of Raymond and Rain's 2002 drama, "Lofty Waters Verdant Bow" and reportedly plans to reunite them again, as well as co-star Michelle Ye.

It was also alleged that TVB has offered Rain an attractive fee of HKD 40,000 per episode for her return, dubbed higher than that of Raymond and Michelle's.

However, Rain denied receiving any offers as reported, but stated, "My mum usually handles the offers for me. She might have not told me about it yet."
When asked on her thoughts about reuniting with her ex-boyfriend in a drama, the actress simply answered, "I do not mind working with Raymond and acting as a couple together. However, I can only start filming in August."

"Lofty Waters Verdant Bow" was a blockbuster series when it was launched in 2002. The drama also created a lot of hype and rumours of a love triangle for its lead actors, Raymond, Rain and Michelle.

Karena Ng defends lavish purchases

Karena Ng recently dismissed speculations of a conflict with Raymond Lam's rumoured ex-girlfriend Rose Chan, after the former criticised her for her lavish spending.

As reported on Popular Asians, earlier, Rose Chan took a jab at the young actress, stating that the 19-year-old should have considered if her designer items are age-appropriate.

The comment, however, was interpreted by others as Rose's way of implying Karena's materialistic values.

At a charity event on 14 May, Karena, who is known for her love of brands and designer labels, denied being offended by Rose's comments, and defended her purchases, stating that it is within her rights to do so.

"I don't think she was implying I am materialistic," the actress said. "I didn't buy them because of the brands, but because they look good. I am simply spending money I have earned on what I love!"
