How lucky it is to be Sammo Hung's daughter-in-law!

According to TVB News World, the martial arts actor-choreographer recently showered his daughter-in-law Janet Chow with gifts worth over HKD 1 million for giving birth to his first grandson.

On 14 May, Sammo hosted his grandson's 100th day celebration with a 15-table banquet, with all expenses paid for by the actor himself.
The "Ip Man 2" actor also awarded Janet with a new car of her choice, to which the Hong Kong actress humbly picked the least expensive Audi Q5, worth HKD 600,000 (app. USD 77,300).

When asked about the car, Janet rationalised her choice that the new car is spacious, stable, value-for-money and allows her to drive her son TJ around safely.

Sammo was also looking cheerful throughout the 100th day banquet. When asked about his recent lavish gift to Janet, he enthused, "I have to reward Janet because she is such a respectful daughter-in-law. I offered to buy her a car because I thought that it will be more convenient for her to bring TJ out if she has a car."

Meanwhile, the doting grandfather also gave grandson TJ a wide variety of gold jewellery that symbolised good luck and safety.

Sheren Tang slams "Beauty At War" writer

|| || || Leave a nhận xét

Following Sheren Tang's complaints regarding poor practices on the set of "Beauty At War", especially the lack of well-timed completed script, scriptwriter Chow Yuk Ming recently admitted his flaws and attributed the script issue to his "bad habit".

According to Jayne Stars, at an interview with the press, Chow stated, "Writers usually have this habit. Journalists, novelists, TV scriptwriters all have this bad habit, but mine is particularly bad. I couldn't change [the habit] before I turned 30, so I will probably carry it to my grave."

Admitting that he knows the habit is very frustrating for the cast and crew, however, he felt that the situation is like a sinking ship and it was easier to blame him when a drama was unsuccessful, stating, "I haven't changed in all of these years. In the past two years however I have done this less frequently. Sometimes I feel pessimistic and think, the ship is about to sink, some people would rather play mouse and be the first to escape."

However, the scriptwriter was still apologetic about his behaviour, and expressed that he had once regretted writing this sequel.

Meanwhile, upon hearing about Chow's sinking ship analogy, Sheren slammed the scriptwriter on Weibo, and stated, "I'm nothing and I have nothing to lose, so I'm not worried if the ship sinks. You're wrong. Human nature is not as bad as you think. We must take responsibility once we board the ship."

"I was ill in the middle of filming, but I persevered to avoid damaging morale. If you want to behave immaturely and won't care about how others should prepare, then you must also be responsible for the consequences. We all want to do a good job, not just you! We simply need to admit to our failures together!"

Rumour has it that former lovers, Raymond Lam and Rain Li, may be reunited for a new drama.

Asianpopnews reported that TVB has planned to replicate the success of Raymond and Rain's 2002 drama, "Lofty Waters Verdant Bow" and reportedly plans to reunite them again, as well as co-star Michelle Ye.

It was also alleged that TVB has offered Rain an attractive fee of HKD 40,000 per episode for her return, dubbed higher than that of Raymond and Michelle's.

However, Rain denied receiving any offers as reported, but stated, "My mum usually handles the offers for me. She might have not told me about it yet."
When asked on her thoughts about reuniting with her ex-boyfriend in a drama, the actress simply answered, "I do not mind working with Raymond and acting as a couple together. However, I can only start filming in August."

"Lofty Waters Verdant Bow" was a blockbuster series when it was launched in 2002. The drama also created a lot of hype and rumours of a love triangle for its lead actors, Raymond, Rain and Michelle.

Karena Ng defends lavish purchases

Karena Ng recently dismissed speculations of a conflict with Raymond Lam's rumoured ex-girlfriend Rose Chan, after the former criticised her for her lavish spending.

As reported on Popular Asians, earlier, Rose Chan took a jab at the young actress, stating that the 19-year-old should have considered if her designer items are age-appropriate.

The comment, however, was interpreted by others as Rose's way of implying Karena's materialistic values.

At a charity event on 14 May, Karena, who is known for her love of brands and designer labels, denied being offended by Rose's comments, and defended her purchases, stating that it is within her rights to do so.

"I don't think she was implying I am materialistic," the actress said. "I didn't buy them because of the brands, but because they look good. I am simply spending money I have earned on what I love!"

Positive reaction for "Slow Boat Home"

|| || ,,,, || Leave a nhận xét

After the failure of Wayne Lai's "Bullet Brain", it seems that the new drama taking over the time slot may have the chance to become the next big breakout drama this season.

As reported on Jayne Stars, Leung Choi Yuen's "Slow Boat Home" may have only aired two of its episodes, but the reception was nothing less than impressive, with viewers praising the drama for its youthfulness and positivity.

"Slow Boat Home" is a romantic comedy drama that takes place in Cheung Chau. Actor Raymond Wong plays the leading role, a 28-year-old seemingly hopeless freeloader named Cheung Po Tsai who always causes trouble for his father.

Cheung Po Tsai is also friends with city doctor, Fit Wing (Ruco Chan), and the local mailman, Shuttle (Matt Yeung), and together they are known as the 'Cheung Chau jewels'. However, Cheung Po Tsai's life gets an immediate twist when Fit Wing's high school sweetheart, Heidi (Selena Li), returns to Cheung Chau to work on a mysterious business project.

In addition to the series' change from TVB's darker dramas recently, viewers were also full of praises for the casting, and complimented Raymond, Ruco, and Matt for giving a realistic performance.

The 25-episode drama also stars Aimee Chan, Elaine Yiu, Elliot Ngok, Ram Chiang, Oceane Zhu and Cheung Kwok Keung.

Sheren Tang furious with bad rumours

|| || || Leave a nhận xét

Sheren Tang recently took a stab at the media for continuously making false reports regarding her working relationship with the cast and crew of palace drama, "Beauty At War".

Popular Asians reported that recently, a tabloid claimed that the actress regretted filming the "War And Beauty" sequel after finding out that the series failed to capture audiences' attention with its confusing plot, resulting in an unimpressive 18 points in ratings.

The tabloid also stated that Sheren had criticised the production team for not having the script ready and TVB in not including her in the drama's promotional events, as well as alleging that she has been having problems with co-star, Christine Ng.

Fed-up with the constant fabricated reports, the actress defended herself via Weibo, and fired back, "Nine years ago, with "War And Beauty", the tabloids accused me of not getting along with other female co-stars. Nine years later, the media still put [me] on the cusp, and comparing myself with the tactics of Consort Yu in the drama."

Sheren claimed that the rumours are damaging to the cast, saying "[Beauty At War] talks about how spreading rumours are like committing invisible murders, but in real life, there are also [rumours of me] refusing to participate in promotional events because of poor ratings, and not getting along with [Christine Ng]. The theme of "Beauty At War" is so realistic; if it cannot be understood, then wouldn't [the viewers] have fallen to evil intentions?"

Karen Mok Denies Avoiding Stephen Fung

Charlie Yeung Choi Nei's directing debut, CHRISTMAS ROSE (SING DAN MUI GWAI), two nights ago held a premiere. Aside from actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Xia Yu, Chang Chen and Kwai Lun-Mei, Charlie's close friends Karen Mok Man Wai, Angelica Lee Sinjie and Gigi Leung Wing Kei also showed their support. However, Mok Man Wai soon after arriving already stated that she had to leave. She stressed that she was not dodging old flame Stephen Fung Tak Lun. "Of course not! I haven't seen him either. Actually I have to catch a plane back to England. Tonight everyone is supporting Charlie. We are friends and I won't feel awkward anyway."

Charlie admitted that she was very happy to have the support of so many friends, of course she also would like a good box office performance to prove that the film has been shared with many and the workers have been rewarded. However she would not give herself too much pressure. She stressed that she did not want to transition to directing and would only do so with a good script, she would remain an actress first. Would she consider making a movie with her friends? They all immediately agreed that they hoped to be able to make the transition and joked that they could make a mahjong comedy with Mok Man Wai.

Celebrating her birthday on the 23rd, Charlie said that last year her birthday was during the shoot so she celebrated with the team; this year because she will have to promote overseas she will still spend it with the team. However she will pick another date to celebrate with her close friends.

Kwok Fu Sing two nights ago attended the premiere. He said that he told his mother about his new film release, even stressed that this time he only acted and did not have any action and dangerous scene so she would not have to worry. Mama immediately nodded to indicate that she was relaxed because Mama was afraid to watch more violent films at her age. Has Mama rushed him to find a new girlfriend? Sing Sing said, "Mama wouldn't say stuff like that. She knows that her son in the past decade has put a lot of time into film. She only looks forward to my new films and is already satisfied that I share them with her. She also understands that I am not a kid anymore, has my own ideas. She also knows that I am a workaholic who is passionate about my performance career, so I have gained a lot and lost a lot. The main reason was that because my sister and brother already have children so she would not care about that with me. I am fortunate to have such an understanding mother."

Selena Li Has No Fear, She's Wanted "Seun Poon"

|| || || Leave a nhận xét

In the new series, Slow Boat Home, Selena Li plays a goddess who appears simple and pure, but in fact she is very ambitious. She frequently takes advantage of her first love Ruco Chan. Selena felt a lot of pressure trying to live in this goddess' life. She expressed not only did she had to convince herself into this role, but she also had to make sure she doesn't get too exaggerated. "In the series, I sacrifice myself trying to climb up the career ladder. I met a wealthy man, (portrayed by Patrick Tang) which reflects the true side of society, especially in the business world. There are people in the business world who bury their conscience to do things. (A lot in the entertainment industry too!) I'm rather a simple person, I don't live a complicated life and my friends are mostly from overseas. Having been in the industry for over 10 years, there was a time I felt really unhappy. I took some things too seriously, whether if it was the awards, my relationships or my career. But now I'm over all that. I used to be very stingy and wasn't willing to buy anything. Honestly, I just purchased my first designer brand handbag two years ago. Now I am more willing to spend some money on myself, like go on vacations or enjoy a massage, makes me happier."

Selena frankly expressed the negative news had once influence her to think that she should leave HK. She said: "I thought it wasn't fair at all. I'm a conservative person and basically not a bold and free person. Why are single girls in this industry called sluts? And the guys like Kenneth Ma and Ruco Chan are considered 'seun poon' (good deals)? Girls can be seun poons, lots of people want me too."

Been Hurt Too Many Times

Asked whether she has many pursuers now? Selena expressed every guy she had met, they are really good in the beginning, but then the true colors start showing later. They are all the same. Nowadays, she will get to know the person more first. Selena disclosed she was secretly dating someone for a year before, but she and the boyfriend eventually broke up because of incompatible personalities. In the future, she will watch carefully and wait for stability first before dating again. She said: "I really don't want to break up again! Each time I go through a break up, I'm really hurt. I've been hurt too many times, had enough!"

(You have such colorful news!) It's just news, I'm personally not like that."
